PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic coating composition that exhibits good adhesion to a resin and has transparency and hardcoat properties. SOLUTION: The coating composition comprises a polymer substance comprising a reaction product obtained by causing (a) an amino group-bearing silane compound represented by the following formula: R<SP>1</SP><SB>4-n</SB>-Si-(OR<SP>2</SP>)<SB>n</SB>(wherein R<SP>1</SP>is an amino group-bearing organic group; R<SP>2</SP>is a methyl group, an ethyl group or a propyl group; and n is an integer selected from among 1-3) to react with (b) at least one boron compound selected from the group consisting of H<SB>3</SB>BO<SB>3</SB>and B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>in a ratio of at least 0.02 mole of the component (b) to 1 mole of the component (a), and (c) a curable resin which has a main chain composed of a polyether skeleton having at least an ethylene oxide unit and bears a reactive group (c-1).
