PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering column unit allowing a plurality of friction plates to be attached easily and accurately upon attachment of friction members. SOLUTION: On the outside of a wall part 41 of a vehicle body side bracket 4, the first friction member 100 and the second friction member 110 are arranged, and a frame body 200 binding the plurality of friction plates 102 by restraining the outside edges of the first friction member 100 and the second friction member 110, is arranged. In the opposed side parts 200a, 200b of the frame body 200, a plurality of grooves 205 restraining the outside edges 102a, 102b of the respective friction plates 102, are formed, and moreover, a slit 206 for inserting the friction plate of the second friction member 110 is formed.
