PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable simultaneous checking of the degree of focus and a composition. SOLUTION: A main image write circuit (60) writes a main image in a memory (54). A partial image read circuit (70) reads a part of the main image in the memory (54) as a partial image to make a focal check. A main image resolution conversion circuit (76) matches the resolution of the main image with that of a liquid crystal display panel (40). A partial image resolution conversion circuit (72) expands the partial image into a size smaller than a full screen as the size on a screen. An edge extraction circuit (80) extracts the edge from an output image of the circuit 72, and hue/saturation/lightness adjustment circuits (74, 78) adjust the hue/saturation/lightness of the output of the circuit (80). The hue/saturation/lightness adjustment circuits (74, 78) adjust the hue/saturation/lightness of the output of the circuits (72, 76) so as to be different from each other.
