PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a telescopic shaft which includes a coated part for reducing sliding resistance, easily keeping the sliding resistance below a prescribed small value and keeping manufacturing costs low, and the telescopic shaft manufactured by the manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the coated part 61, many undissolved second polymeric material particles 72A-72H are substantially homogeneously dispersed in a dissolved first polymeric material 71. The surface 611 of the coated part 61 cut to a position indicated by an alternate long and two dashes line 81. Thereby, the second polymeric material particles 71A-72C are surely exposed to the cut surface 612 of the coated part 61.
