<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus which can prevent vibration because of the movement of the gravitational center subsequent to the movement of an ink head unit and vibration because of the rotational moment of the whole of the recording apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The recording apparatus (1) includes the ink head unit 41 which moves in a width direction X, a drying mechanism 51 which moves in a reverse direction to the ink head unit 41 and dries an ink on a recording medium, and a balance unit 31 which moves in synchronization with a smaller one in mass of the ink head unit 41 and the drying mechanism 51 in the same direction as a direction in which the gravitational center of the smaller one in the width direction X moves. The balance unit 31 is constituted so that a first locus J1 which is a movement locus of a virtual gravitational center as the gravitational center in the case when the balance unit 31 and the smaller one are considered to be one body may becomes coaxial with that of a second locus J2 as the movement locus of the gravitational center of a larger one in mass of the ink head unit 41 and the drying mechanism 51.
