摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens position detecting device which is capable of detecting the absolute position of a lens with high precision with a compact constitution, and which is capable of achieving a wide detection range corresponding to a relatively large movement amount; and to provide a lens apparatus employing the same. SOLUTION: The circumference direction length of either the first sheet coil (171) provided at the circumference face part of a lens holding frame (122), or the second sheet coil (172) provided at the circumference face part of a cylinder member (130) is made to be longer than the circumference direction length of the other. It is constituted in such a manner that, within a range where the holding frame (122) can relatively rotate against the cylinder member (130), the area in which the first sheet coil (171) faces the second sheet coil (172) always becomes constant. According to the movement of the holding frame (122), the first sheet coil (171) moves keeping a facing distance from the second sheet coil (172), and the position of a lens (116) is detected based on the electric signal output from the detection coil according to the moving position.
