<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell which eliminates deterioration of a contacting property between a membrane-electrode assembly and a collector caused by a bending when pushing and fixing the membrane-electrode assembly and the collector are pushed and fixed by a cover plate, and which achieves thinning and weight reduction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell is provided with: the membrane-electrode assembly having a fuel electrode, an air electrode, and an electrolyte membrane 17 sandwiched by the membrane-electrode assembly and the air electrode; the collector 18 for sandwiching the membrane-electrode assembly; and the cover plate 2 for pushing and fixing the membrane-electrode assembly and the collector 18 from a membrane-electrode assembly side of the collector 18, and the opposite side of it.
