The method involves applying a rubber-containing two component adhesive at a conveyor belt (4) and at a lower side of edge profile strips (3). The conveyor belt is continuously pulled through two consecutive pressing stations at defined speed. The strips are attached to lubricated side areas of the belt that is passed through a pressing station (13) for lightly pre-fixing the strip by applying pressure that acts from upwards on the strips. The belt is passed through another pressing station (7) for completely fixing the strip by applying high pressure at a base part of the strip. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for firmly attaching lateral edge profile strips at an elongated conveyor belt, comprising a sliding table.
