<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electronic equipment controlling an AC adaptor to reduce power consumption of the AC adaptor via a connection wiring used for supplying power, and to provide an AC adaptor used in the electronic equipment. <P>SOLUTION: A personal computer 10 as electronic equipment includes at least a control signal transmission circuit 36 and a unit 38 to determine the state of a main power supply. The control signal transmission circuit 36 transmits a signal for controlling the open/close of a switch 42 electrically connected in series between an AC adaptor 20 and a commercial power supply via a connection wiring 21 with the AC adaptor 20, while being superimposed on a DC output.
