PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation of unnecessary harmonic components by determining the operation state of a plurality of converters, in varying the carrier frequency of a PWM controlled converter, to use the carrier frequency preset according to the operation state. SOLUTION: The power conversion apparatus includes: a plurality of converters 14a converting AC to DC; a PWM control unit controlling the switching operation of the plurality of switching elements in the converters through the pulse width modulation output generated by the comparison between a triangular wave carrier and a modulation wave; and a carrier frequency calculation unit 116 varying the carrier frequency in response to each operation state of the converters.
