<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens drive unit of simple structure with a small number of part items. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A housing (30) of the lens drive unit (20) has a substantially rectangular parallelopiped, and includes a principal axis (38) extended along an optical axis (O) direction in the first corner out of four corners of the housing in an inside of the housing. A lens holder (422) has, on its side face, a principal axis receiver (4222) attached movably onto the principal axis (38). A coil spring is constituted of a front coil spring (442) and a rear coil spring (444) attached respectively to a front side and rear side of the principal axis (38), with the principal axis receiver (4222) therebetween.
