<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type image display device having a function of allowing a user to accurately recognize an accumulated use period of time by a simple operation without increasing the number of components. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The projection type image display device has a function of displaying the accumulated lighting period of time of a lamp for projecting an image based on a display pattern of a light emitting element, the projection type image display device includes a digit position designating key of an accumulated lighting period of time for designating an optional digit position among digit positions of first to n-th digits (n is a natural number) of the accumulated lighting period of time, and a control part 400 for controlling displaying of the light emitting element so that when a digit position of the accumulated lighting period of time is designated by the digit position designating key, a display pattern set for the numerical value of the accumulated lighting period of time corresponding to the designated digit position is achieved.
