<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary drive device limiting increase of manufacturing cost to the minimum, not causing a trouble even in a long term use, hardly influenced by surrounding environment and maintaining stable operation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This rotary drive device includes: a motor 1; a worm 2 rotated by the motor 1; a worm wheel 4 meshing with the worm 2; an output shaft 7 rotated by force transmitted to the worm wheel 4; a stopper 9 on which an operation end operated by a transmission force to an output shaft 7 abuts for stopping the output shaft 7 at a preset first angle; a support member 11 rotatably supporting the worm 2 with a rotary shaft 4a of the worm wheel 4 as a fulcrum; and an elastic member 12 generating restoring force corresponding to the rotation angle of the worm 2 in a reverse direction of the rotation direction of the worm 2 when the worm 2 rotates with the rotary shaft 4a of the worm wheel 4 as the fulcrum.
