The battery (1) has a set of single cells (4) that are connected parallel and/or in series with each other. A cooling plate (3) is arranged at a pole side of the single cells. The single cells provided with a burst disk are arranged in a battery housing (5) such that a free space (7) is formed between a cell bottom (4.4) of the single cells and a battery housing bottom (5.1.1) of the housing. The free space is pressure-tightly and/or gas-tightly separated in a direction of the single cells. A separate holding frame separates the free space from the pole side of the single cells.
