An ECU 60 carries out one of a normal supply mode, an increment supply mode and a storage mode, according to an operation state of the internal combustion engine 10 and the storage amount of ozone when performing ozone control. In the normal supply mode, ozone is supplied from the ozone generator 16 to the catalyst 14. In the increment supply mode, ozone is supplied from both the ozone generator 16 and the storage tank 36 to the catalyst 14. In the storage mode, ozone is stored in the storage tank 36 by the ozone generator 16.
