<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for detecting the rotation of a workpiece by which the rotation speed of the workpiece can suitably be detected when the workpiece is induction-heated by a high frequency induction-hardening apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The mechanism 20 for detecting the rotation of the workpiece, which is arranged in the high-frequency induction-hardening apparatus for hardening the long size workpiece 9, is provided with: a first rotation driving means 50 connected to one end part of the workpiece 9; and a second rotation driving means 51 connected to another end part of the workpiece 9. The second rotation driving means 51 includes: a driving shaft 12; a first connecting part 1 connected to the other side end part 9b of the workpiece 9; a bearing part 3 having the rotation resistance; and a second connecting part 2 integrally connected to a second rotation driving means 12. The first connecting part 1 and the second connecting part 2 are connected with a bearing part 3.
