PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To turn an electric power supply on and off, without enlarging a device, in an image capturing apparatus with a lens cover allowing contactless charge. SOLUTION: A chargeable battery is stored in a body of a digital camera 1A, and the metal lens cover 31 switches a taking lens 30 from a nonexposed state to an exposed state and vice versa. A charge coil 20 for charging the battery is arranged in an outer frame 33 of the taking lens 30. The charge coil 20 generates heat by the presence of the lens cover 31, when the charge coil 20 is excited with the lens cover 31 closed. This heat generation is detected to turn the electric power supply of the digital camera 1A off.
