PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a greater capacity, miniaturization and low inertia by avoiding an increase in the number of slots. SOLUTION: In a rotating electric machine, each phase of a plurality of three-phase windings U, V, W is divided into a plurality (here, three pieces) of partial windings and mounted on a stator core 1. As for a U-phase winding, the partial windings thereof are arranged on four U-phase winding areas 2U<SB>1</SB>to 2U<SB>4</SB>, and in these winding areas, two partial windings are arranged in each position between a pair of slots pinching two teeth 4, two partial windings at the same position are different three-phase windings. For example, in positions of slots 108-106 in U-phase winding area 2U<SB>1</SB>, a partial winding U<SB>A1</SB>of a U-phase winding U<SB>A</SB>in one three-phase winding, and a partial winding U<SB>B3</SB>of a U-phase winding U<SB>B</SB>in the other three-phase winding are arranged, and in the positions of slots 104-106, a partial winding U<SB>G2</SB>of a U-phase winding U<SB>G</SB>and a partial winding U<SB>B2</SB>of a U-phase winding U<SB>B</SB>in another three-phase winding are arranged.
