PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acrylic emulsion adhesive having high fixing property, and a double-sided adhesive tape. SOLUTION: The acrylic emulsion adhesive is prepared by carrying out emulsion polymerization of a vinyl unsaturated monomer mixture in an aqueous medium, provided that the vinyl unsaturated monomer mixture essentially comprises an alkyl (meth)acrylate (a) and comprises itaconic acid (b). The vinyl unsaturated monomer mixture further comprises a monomer (c) having at least one substituent chosen from carboxyl group, hydroxyl group, amino group and amido group within the molecule and/or at least one hydrophilic vinyl unsaturated monomer (d).
