<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a position at which the kind (the main part of contents or a commercial message) of the contents changes even when there is a part without a still image of a channel logo or the like though it is the main part in television broadcasting. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In addition to whether it is a section where there is a still image group which is the group of almost the same still images appearing in the video frame of the contents or a section where there is no still image group, information on at least either one of the video frame of a single color among the video frames configuring the contents and a silent section where the volume of sound configuring the contents is below a fixed threshold is used, and the position at which the kind of the contents changes is detected. Thus, the position at which the kind (the main part of the contents or the commercial message) of the contents changes is accurately detected even when there is a part without the still image of a channel logo or the like though it is the main part in television broadcasting.
