Polyamides are made by condensing one or more polyamines with a co-polymerization product of acrylonitrile and dehydrated castor oil fatty acids. Specified polyamines are diethylene triamine, ethylene diamine, propylene diamine, hexamethylene diamine, p-phenylene diamine, triethylene tetramine and p-p1-diamino-diphenyl methane. In the examples acrylonitrile is polymerized with dehydrated castor oil fatty acids in the presence of p-tertiarybutyl catechol and di-tertiary butyl peroxide, the products being reacted with diethylene triamine or triethylene tetramine.
