[Also in Group XXXVI] An electrical component such as a capacitor or resistor A is provided with flattened terminal tags B 6 , B 9 shaped for insertion into the perforations of a printed circuit board to a limited extent so as to space the component away from the board. A component A with axially extending wire ends has its ends flattened between dies C, C 1 , Fig. 2, and the ends are then bent over between dies D, D 1 , Fig. 3. In another embodiment, the ends may be joggled between dies H, H 1 , Fig. 6, before bending over. In a further embodiment a component with radially extending wires has the ends flattened by oppositely acting dies, Fig. 5 (nto shown); the ends may then be joggled, Fig. 8 (not shown). The flattened ends may also be twisted to bring the flat surfaces parallel with the component axis, Fig. 9 (not shown). The terminal tags may be flattened before being connected to the component body. |
