The furnace has a combustion chamber for receiving a powder-coated workpiece i.e. sheet metal. A convection heating device is provided with a heating assembly, a blower and air guiding channels. The chamber has a radiant heater whose radiator is formed as an infrared radiator for emitting medium-wave infrared radiations and formed as a dark radiator for emitting long-wave infrared radiations. The radiator is formed in such a manner that the radiations irradiate the interior of the chamber. Emitters in the form of pipings (6) are distributed arranged in the chamber. An independent claim is also included for a method for coating a workpiece.
