The method of removing outer polyimide coating from a quartz capillary which involves treatment with a solution of concentrated sulphuric acid uses the said acid heated to temperature not below 130C and the said acid is supplied dropwise. A cooling liquid at temperature not above 6C is simultaneously passed through the capillary.
