<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a packet signal intermediating apparatus, method and program, and information selecting system and method, for selecting information suitable for a user from an information source without loading any special burden on the user or the information source. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An information acquisition request packet signal is received from a user terminal handled by a specific user in step 51, and information selection user information effective for selecting information in registering the specific user is edited and accumulated in step 52. In step 53, when the information acquisition request packet signal is received, the information selection user information of the user terminal is integrated in the information acquisition request packet signal, and in step 54, the packet signal is transmitted to a destination of an information source. At the information source, user information for information selection is analyzed in step 55, data stored in the information source are selected on the basis of an analysis result in step 56, and the selected data are transmitted to a transmission source of the packet in step 57.
