Techniques for focusing a camera assembly (12) on a moving object include the steps of generating a preview video signal of a scene containing the objects 40a-40c and analyzing the video signal to track movement of a moving object (10a). As part of the analysis, a touch area (42a-42c) for a touch sensitive electronic viewfinder of the camera assembly is established. The touch area (42a) corresponds to the moving object (40a) and remains active in a former position of the object (40a).
