The device has a sampling unit (A) provided with a detector arrangement (4) for sampling a reference marker coding (2). Detector elements are interconnected within two detector assemblies of the detector arrangement, for generating resultant signals. An evaluation unit combines a linking signal with the resultant signals, and compares the linkage signal with a trigger signal, to detect a predetermined reference position of objects (B1, B2). The trigger signal is generated by additive linking of the resultant signals.
