A power cable carrier 16 for holding a trailing electrical power cable 14 of a portable electrical appliance (e.g. lawnmower 10, hedge-trimmer) away from a user's feet 44 comprises a cable holder 18 (e.g. flexible loop 26), a user-connecting element 20 (e.g. adjustable sling 30), a releasable connector 22 (e.g. snap-fit buckle) by which the cable holder 18 and user-connecting element 20 are interconnected, wherein the releasable connector 22 is situated at or adjacent to the user's hip; and a safety breakaway element 24 on the cable holder 18, user-connecting element 20 or releasable connector 22. The cable holder 18 may include a residual current circuit breaking device and may include a socket for receiving a plug of an electrical appliance. The safety breakaway element 24 may include a frangible portion and may include two parts 36, 38 which have a push-fit engagement. |
