The present invention provides a technology that performs effective input support and relates to a search device that includes:
an input portion (41) that accepts an input of a first character string for searching for a search object,
a storage portion (56, 58) that stores second character strings for searching for the search object,
a search portion (1) that searches among the second character strings for at least one second character string that begins with a character string that matches the first character string that is input,
a first display portion (42) that displays a second character string of the at least one of the second character strings, unless the number of characters in the second string in not more than the number of operations needed to select the said second character string, and
a second display portion (42) that, when one of the at least one second character string that is displayed is selected, displays a search object that corresponds to the selected second character string. The invention also provides a corresponding search method and a corresponding computer-readable storage medium.
