PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time of stoppage of a press by replacing a plate cylinder and an ink pan quickly and automatically in a printing unit. SOLUTION: Each printing unit 1 is provided with two sets of loading devices 11A and 11B for replacement of the plate cylinder so that they are positioned on the opposite sides of a plate cylinder chucking shaft 3, and a plate cylinder supporting part 13 of each loading device functions also as the ink pan 14. According to this constitution, a printing operation is conducted in a state wherein the ink pan 14 of the loading device 11A on one side is held at an inking position, and, meanwhile, the ink pan 14 of the loading device 11B on the other side is prepared for the next use, while a fresh plate cylinder is put on the ink pan. Thereby it is made possible to replace automatically the plate cylinder and the ink pan at the same time for all the printing units when the press is stopped. Thus the time for arrangement is shortened and the rate of operation of the press is improved. |
