PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional ultrasonograph capable of detecting the localization of a catheter or a small diameter probe automatically and highly accurately with the reduced burden to the operation by an operator when monitoring the localization of the catheter or the small diameter probe, and provided with an efficient method of display for monitoring. SOLUTION: Ultrasound for detection of the localization is transmitted from the inside of a subject by a transducer for detection of the localization mounted on a catheter or a small diameter probe. Also, ultrasound for generating image data is transmitted by an external two dimensional array probe. Transmissions of the both ultrasounds are carried out at a timing when they may not interfere with each other, and receptions thereof are carried out by the external two-dimensional array probe. The localization of a distal end of the catheter detected based on the ultrasound for detection of the localization is displayed on a three- dimensional image based on the ultrasonic image data. |
