An injection system 10 for injecting a fuel into an internal combustion engine 18 of a motor vehicle comprises at least one intake manifold 12 for guiding an air/fuel-mixture to an engine cylinder and a fuel injection pipe 26 which penetrates the intake manifold(s) 12 from radially outwards, the injection pipe 26 comprising an injection opening 30 inside the manifold(s) 12. The injection pipe 26 may supply a gasoline based fuel, eg benzene. The intake manifold(s) 12 may also have a fuel injector 24 for injecting an alcohol based fuel, cold starting being facilitated by injection of gasoline fuel via injection pipe 26. Much of the injection pipe 26 is thus arranged inside the intake manifold 12, only a fuel line connection fitting 38 protruding from the intake manifold 12 for a space-saving and simplified design.
