901,906. Sheet-delivery apparatus. LINOTYPE & MACHINERY Ltd. Dec. 11, 1959 [Dec. 15, 1958], No. 40291/58. Class 100 (1). In sheet-delivery apparatus, sheets 10 are conveyed from a printing machine to a delivery pile 11 by grippers 12 on a cross-bar secured to endless chains 14, the trailing portion of each sheet riding over a series of coaxially-arranged suction rollers 17, as it moves clear of a feedtable 16, which grip the sheet and steady it as it moves towards the pile, and blasts of air from a cross-pipe 20 fitted directly in front of the rollers 17 cause the sheet 10 to be lifted clear of the table 16 to eliminate sheet-rubbing along the table and to prevent the printed sheet from smudging. The pipe 20 is rotatably mounted so that the angle of the air jets therefrom can be adjusted. Further air jets from nozzles 28 on a rotatably mounted crosspipe 25 are directed along the undersurface of each sheet to assist delivery on the pile 11.
