PLASMA DISPLAY AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A plasma display and a driving method thereof are provided to improve the contrast ratio by reducing power consumption of an addressor and a heat and/or false contour generated from address switching. CONSTITUTION: One of a first driving method or a second driving method is selected according to an image signal. A plasma display unit is driven according to the selected driving method. A first driving method selects a first light emitting cell from the address period of a first sub-field. The first driving method selects a second light emitting cell from the address period of a second sub-field. The second driving method initializes a plurality of discharge cells to non radiation cells in the address period of each sub-field. The second driving method selects a light emitting cell from the address period of each sub-field.
