PROTECTION APPARTUS AND METHOD FOR OPTICAL NETWORK UNIT IN PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK

PURPOSE: A protection apparatus and method for an optical network unit in a passive optical network are provided to conveniently recover the failure happening in an optical distribution device or an optical line. CONSTITUTION: An optical signal transceiver(110) receives a down-stream of an optical line terminal through a protection switching optical distribution network or a main optical distribution network. An up-stream of an optical network unit is received through a main optical distribution network or the protection switching optical distribution network. An optical signal controller(120) detects whether or not the down-stream or up-stream of the optical subscription terminal has failure. When the failure happens, the down-stream or the up-stream is transmitted thorugh the protection switching optical distribution network.
