APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING OF BROADCASTING DATA IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for transmitting/receiving broadcast data in a mobile communication system are provided to adaptively transmit data according to the surrounding environment when providing a broadcast/multicast service using a multi-slot transmission scheme in a high-speed mobile communication system. CONSTITUTION: A BTSs(Base Transceiver Systems)(311,312) are the final nodes that provide a broadcast/multicast service to a mobile station(301). The BTSs provide broadcast services according to the broadcast schemes of their associated systems. A unicast base station controller(313) and a multicast base station controller(314) control operations of the BTS, receive broadcast/multicast service data from upper layers and transmit the broadcast/multicast service data to the corresponding BTSs. The unicast base station controller performs a function of transmitting signaling information, and the multicast base station controller performs a function of transmitting broadcast contents. In this case, the unicast base station controller may provide the BTSs with the number of transmissions for broadcast service data, the number of transmission slots, and the positions of the transmission slots along with a broadcast overhead message. The unicast base station controller is connected to a PCF(Packet Control Function) of an upper layer or the same layer, and expressed as a single entity.
