PURPOSE: An LCD device for in plane switching mode including and upper plate is provided to apply a negative C plate, a positive biaxial A plate, a polarizer and a protection layer onto an upper plate polarizing plate in orders and embodying a perfect black state in all directions, thereby obtaining a viewing angle. CONSTITUTION: A negative C plate(24), a positive biaxial A plate(25), a polarizer(21) and a protection layer(23) is laminated from a liquid crystal cell side in orders, in an upper plate polarizing plate for IPS(In Plane Switching)(20) mode. A front retardation of the negative C plate is less than 10nm. A thickness direction retardation of the negative C plate is 90-150nm. A front retardation of the positive biaxial A plate is 80-140nm. A refractive index ratio of the positive biaxial A plate is -1.2 - -0.01. A slow axis(26) of the positive biaxial A plate is parallel to an absorbing axis(22) of the adjacent polarizer. |
