The invention relates to peptide derivatives, called memno peptides, of general formula (I), salts or derivatives thereof, a method for its preparation by fermentation of the microorganism Memnoniella echinata FH 2272, DSM 13195, or its variants or mutations. The invention further relates to compositions and medicaments containing the said peptide derivative and the use thereof for the treatment of cardiac insufficiency and associated diseases, diabetes mellitus and microbial infections.
