PURPOSE: An engine control unit and a method of a vehicle are provided to make the stabilization of exhaust g and the improvement of fuel efficiency. CONSTITUTION: An engine control unit of a vehicle comprises an accelerator pedal detection unit(102), an RPM detection unit(103), a controller(104), a memory unit(105) and an actuator. The accelerator pedal detection unit detects a displacement of an accelerating pedal by a driver. The RPM detection unit detects RPM. The controller controls the intake air volume by applying fixed air volume control map if the RPM is descended under the fixed first standard RPM. The air volume control map is saved in the memory unit. The actuator controls the intake air volume according to the duty control signal of the controller.
