The air damper has tubular cylinder (1) having opened ends, and piston (2) moving in cylinder, and cap (3) mounted to opening side of cylinder so as to be movable or deformable in cylinder axis direction. The cylinder has annular seal surface on peripheral surface of opening. The cap makes contact with and is separated from seal surface by pressure variation caused by movement of piston in cylinder. An orifice having smaller inflow area than orifice (14) formed in base plate (12) is defined between the cap and the cylinder, during operation of the orifice (14).
