The system has a pinion and a steering rack for transmitting movement provided by a driving flywheel and/or a steering assistance force to steering wheels of a motor vehicle. A pusher device applies the rack against the pinion and includes a pusher (1) that is mounted in a housing of a steering casing. The pusher includes a cylindrical shaped rigid body (5) that is partly fixed near the rack and pressed against the back surface of the rack. The pusher includes a flexible element (6) whose initial exterior shape matches with shape of the back surface of the rack. The flexible element of the pusher is made of two different flexible materials.
