PURPOSE: A method and a device for providing POI information of a mobile terminal are provided to enable a user to easily and accurately search desired POI information within a desired area from map data. CONSTITUTION: A method for providing POI information of a mobile terminal is as follows. A specific area is selected from map data. POI information is searched within the selected area(S12). The searched POI information is indicated(S13). It is determined whether a line for selecting the specific area is drawn on the map data. When a start point and an end point are crossed, the area within the line is selected. A POI searching key for searching the POI information is indicated(S17).
