PURPOSE: An optical disc device and a data recording method are provided to enhance the reliability on data recording by performing the test operation by sessions and comparing and adjusting the record speed by sessions. CONSTITUTION: A data recording method comprises the following steps. The last data record location is searched from the data area of an optical disc. One or more test points are established between the searched last record location and the last location of the data area. The test data is recorded to the established test point, is reproduced and thus data is recorded at the record speed corresponding to the test result value.
