PURPOSE: A composition containing a coumarin derivative for treating gastrointestinal diseases is provided to promote prostaglandin generation and protect stomach wall. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating gastrointestinal diseases contains a compound of chemical formula 1 or pharmaceutically acceptable salt as an active ingredient. Gastrointestinal diseases are esophagitis regurgitica, gastritis, duodenal ulcer, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulceration, rhinelcosis dyspepsia, gastro esophageal reflux disease, gastrinoma, acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding, stress ulcer, helicobacter pylori infection, zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES), werner's syndrome or systemic mastocytosis. The composition is used in the form of powders, granules, tablets, capsules, suspensions, emulsions, syrups, aerosols, suppositories, or sterilization injection solution. A coumarin derivative is isolated from Hericium erinaceum Hypha cultivated with Artemisia capillaries cultured in a medium of Artemisia capillaries.
