PURPOSE: An automated polyp detecting method in a virtual colorectal endoscope and a system thereof are provided to improve the polyp detecting rate by using three dimension local image signal structure decomposition technique. CONSTITUTION: A colorectal tissue region is sectioned(S101). A local image signal structure is emphasized through the Gaussian blurring(S103). An eigen value expressing a local image signal structure is calculated(S105). A polyp candidate pixel which is similar to the form of polyp is detected(S107). A different polyp candidate pixel included in a region which is contiguous to the polyp candidate pixel is set to a group of one polyp candidate pixels(S109). A group-based population property of the polyp candidate pixels is extracted(S111). A polyp is detected after eliminating the false positive reaction of the candidate pixels(S113).
