PURPOSE: A reciprocating compressor is provided to effectively reduce the load of a compression unit through a switching unit. CONSTITUTION: A reciprocating compressor comprises a drive unit and a compression unit. The compression unit comprises a driving unit, a piston(12), a rotary shaft(13), and a switching unit(20). The rotary shaft comprises an eccentric shaft(14) and is rotated by the driving unit. The switching unit switches the eccentric rotary motion of the eccentric shaft to the linear reciprocating motion of the piston. The switching unit comprises a first link member(30), a second link member(40), and a third link member(50). One end of the first link member is rotatably connected to the piston. The second link member connects the fixed shaft disposed at the location spaced from the piston to the other end of the first link member. The third link member connects the connection part of the first and second link members to the eccentric shaft.
