<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission capable of reducing the number of clutches. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This automatic transmission has three planetary gears 4, 6 and 7. A carrier Ca is connected to an input member 2. First connecting bodies Sa and Sc are constituted by connecting a sun gear Sa and a sun gear Sc, and second connecting bodies Cb and Rc are constituted by connecting a carrier Cb and a ring gear Rc, and third connecting bodies Rb and Cc are constituted by connecting a ring gear Rb and a carrier Cc. The automatic transmission has a first engaging element C1 for connecting the third connecting bodies Rb and Cc to an output member 3 and connecting the second connecting bodies Cb and Rc and an input member 2, a second engaging element C2 for connecting a sun gear Sb and the input member 2, a third engaging element C3 for connecting the first connecting bodies Sa and Sc and the input member 2, a fourth engaging element B1 for fixing the second connecting bodies Cb and Rc to a transmission case 1, a fifth engaging element B2 for fixing a sun gear Sb to the transmission case 1, and a sixth engaging element B3 for fixing a ring gear Ra to the transmission case 1.
