PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device, wherein the existence of a bright spot defect generated by a minute foreign matter and the like invaded in an assembling step can be made inconspicuous up to a level practically having no problem while cost increase is suppressed; and to provide a bright spot suppressing method. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device of an active matrix type having a defective dot a portion of which is occupied by a minute bright spot defective region which is usually bright, a normal region except the bright spot defective region of the defective dot is usually black-displayed and at least one or more dots of a plurality of dots adjacent to the defective dot are usually black-displayed.
