The activity and stability of a lower-hydrocarbon aromatization catalyst are improved. Provided is a process for producing a catalyst for lower-hydrocarbon aromatization in which a lower hydrocarbon is used as a starting material to produce an aromatic compound through catalytic reaction. The catalyst comprises a metallosilicate and molybdenum supported thereon. The process comprises adding a silane to the metallosilicate ingredient in an amount not smaller than 0.75 wt.% of the metallosilicate ingredient and compression-molding the catalyst without adding an inorganic binder for bonding the catalyst particles together. The resultant lower-hydrocarbon aromatization catalyst retains sufficient shape retentivity although having been obtained through compression molding without using a binder. The stability and activity of a lower-hydrocarbon aromatization catalyst are improved by compression-molding the catalyst without using a binder. This effect is remarkable when the addition amount is 0.75 wt.% in terms of silicon oxide amount. |
