SYSTEM AND METHOD OF READING IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read images without distortion over the entire recording medium.

SOLUTION: In an image reading system, a check processing system includes: a reading unit (read head 82 or 83) for reading the image of the recording medium; a first carrying unit (carrying roller 52 and pressing roller 62) provided more on the upstream than the reading unit; a second carrying unit (carrying roller 53 and pressing roller 63) provided more on the downstream than the reading unit; and a read image generation unit 104 for generating the read image of the recording medium on the basis of the image read by the reading unit when the second carrying unit sends out the recording medium to the downstream side of a read position when carrying the recording medium in a forward direction from the upstream side to the downstream side and reading the image and the image read by the reading unit when the first carrying unit sends out the recording medium from the read position to the upstream side when carrying the recording medium in an opposite direction from the downstream side to the upstream side and reading the image.
